People really need to use more brioche buns for burgers in this town. If only the patty was plumper and more savoury. Don't get me wrong, it was cooked perfectly medium and is clearly made from quality meat, but it just lacked that oomph of savouriness somehow. Perhaps it needed a shake more of salt and pepper - or perhaps mix in some other forms of spiciness and savouriness in there. Be creative!Luckily, the egg was also oh so perfect as it just burst with creamy gooey softness and added that taste and texture i guess many would like in a properly prepared egg. I for one has never been a fan of eggs, but this one was perfectly hatched.Meanwhile, the veggies were all so fresh and crunchy - especially love how the cherry tomatoes would give that burst of freshness when you bite into it.Now, to the best thing on the plate - the hand cut fries. Oh my god the fries. All shapes and sizes, crispy to the point that some of the smaller cuts may have a slight burnt aftertaste. Oh my god they are so good. Perfectly seasoned throughout. I will argue that it is a bit too salty for my palate, but at least they were all evenly spread with no clumps. Just so good. Just so good.Now, at 140++, burger is kind of overpriced i guess, but by golly the fries and the bun and the veggies really made it all worthwhile. I would go as far as to say that if i could buy everything but the patty (which is arguably the main cost element - or at least it should be) for half the price i would be a happy camper.Their other offerings are also great - their 35++ lemon coffee is interesting, the 65++ lean green pineapple is amazing, the 45++ affogato was good, the 55++ lemon meringue pie was yummy, and 65++ vanilla coffee milkshake was thoroughly enjoyable.All in all, it is a bit expensive, but it's quite worth it. Order the fries and the lean green pineapple and those alone should make your day.#quality #worthit

Lunch bareng kolega, kebetulan doi orang perancis jadi bawa aja deh kemari. Pesen ravioli dan komunal steak. Untuk ravioli nya saya rasa bukan untuk lidah indonesia ( entah atau saya yg norak) tp steak nya boleh dicoba. Potongan daging nya perfect banget, bumbu nya pas ala2 steak eropa. Sempet ngobrol juga sm chef nya yg ternyata dari italy, makanan disini ternyata dibuat sesuai lidah mereka. Kopi nya juga ala2 italy banget. Ambience nya oke kok bisa buat meeting juga

Used to love this place and visit very frequently when my office was nearby. But on my recent visit (before lunch time, around 11am), I noticed the service become very slow, waitress took quite a while to come to our table and it took almost 30mins to serve sunny side eggs and spaghetti. I remember it used to be faster than this. Also I specifically asked twice for my sunny side eggs to be welldone without salad and feta cheese, but still it come with rocket and feta cheese, tho welldone. Lastly, we order their bread pudding after main course from their show case, and again it come in 15-20 mins cus they said they need to reheat it, but when it serves, its not even warm. Food wise, I think still okay. Just the service, it used to be much better

This is my first time visiting Kommunal88. I ordered hot latte, madeleines, and italian benedict. The food is definitely value for money, esp the italian benedict with generous prosciutto. The best egg benedict in town. The service was very friendly. This restaurant is also environmental friendly. Definitely will be back here again.

Pagi2 breakfast di komunal ini, well, begitu masuk ke komunal, wihh ambiencenya terasa seperti di bali, aroma coffee dan pastry yang harum ditambah dengan pengunjungnya yang 90% expatriate, langsung deh gw jatuh cinta sama ambience disini. Tempatnya cukup besar, ada 2 lantai. Gw duduk di lantai bawah, interiornya simple minimalis modern dengan sentuhan industrial style. Menunya cukup bervariasi juga disini, sampe bingung milihnya karena semua terlihat menarik. Gw dan temen2 akhirnya coba beberapa menu yaitu :- scallops piccanti : ini enak banget bumbunya legit dan tasty, menggunakan pasta tagliatelle yang al dente dimasak dengan spicy tomato sauce dan chili oil,  lalu disajikan dengan 4 pcs scallops yang enak rasanya. - italian benedict : bentuknya cantik banget, 2 buah poached egg dengan parma ham (pork), ricotta cheese, rucola salad, semuanya disajikan di atas country loaf (semacam roti baguet) lalu disajikan dengan white truffle hollandaise. Tapi sayangnya rasanya agak tawar, tidak seindah penampilannya, ham nya gw pikir bakal asin gitu tapi ternyata kurang asin dan cenderung bland. Lalu gw mencoba minta chili sauce untuk biar menambah rasa tapi ternyata disini tidak menyediakan chili sauce. Huffttt. - pistacchio crusted tuna : tuna filletnya gw pikir medium well, uda kebayang warnanya pasti bakal orange cantik gitu, tapi pas dateng kok ternyata mateng banget, ketika dibelah baru kliatan deh warna cantiknya. Rasanya enak, empuk dan ukurannya cukup tebal disajikan dengan black ollive, mango dan lettuce yang semuanya fresh. - french grilled cheese : brie cheese dengan buah nanas, crispy pork bacon, watercress salad. Rotinya cukup crunchy, cheesenya juga cukup melted, enak sih tapi buat gw kurang ditambah chili sauce dna disini tidak menyediakan chili sauce. Zzz. - fraisier portion : yang satu ini dessert, tapi gw kurang suka karena serba cream, jadi serasa makan cream. - cheese croissant : sempet icip ini, rasanya enak juga, cheesy, tekstur croissantnya juga sempurna, dan ukurannya cukup besar. - babynutelachino : yang ini minuman nutela dengan milk, suka banget, enak, manis2 chocolate favorit gw banget deh hehe. Ñķ milky dan morocan milk tea, gw ga sempet cobain tapi penyajiannya unik, yang wulong di pot kecil warna pink, satu lagi yang morocan tea disajikan di pot morocan warna silver, sesuai dengan jenis tehnya. unik dan mewah! òókķķOverall gw suka banget sama ambiencenya, kalau makanan ok sih hanya kurang chili sauce aja nih, rasanya sebenernya enak, tapi sepertinya disesuaikan dengan taste expat deh. Servicenya bagus, harganya juga masih cukup terjangkau, apalagi ada memo diskon perkul. Mantep deh!

We went to Komunal 88 for a family dinner on Friday evening. We were fully satisfied. The service was great with professional approach and kind suggestion for our kids. The food is high level Italian food, with modern approach and refined proposal, far from conventional Italian food. You can appreciate the results of selected ingredients and refined recipes. Wine selection is valid with several good options. The atmosphere is informal and cozy. We appreciated also the commitment to encourage environmental friendly behaviour. A very nice experience.

I used to like this place a lot. They change their menu so it’s hard to keep up. Egg-related dishes are a safer option. Anything else is hot or miss.

Best homemade pasta i’ve ever had. The cacio e pepe was simple, but delicious. Salmon egg benedict was good, one of the best in Jakarta, burger was good too. Komunal88 never disappoints! + Good atmosphere that makes you forget you’re in Jakarta

An absolute gem of a place . Very consistent for food and service . We mainly go there for breakfast which is always great. The staff who make the coffee’s have clearly completed barista courses and it’s hard to find a better cappuccino in Jakarta . Great ambience and the only challenge is parking .
