Found this cute little cafe on website. Had the Madera Big Breakfast and Cold Honey Ginger for my drink. The croissant was so buttery topped with moist scrambled eggs and a drizzle of truffle oil. My ginger honey drink was absolutely refreshing. The interior is simple, chic and cozy. I would definitely come back again..

Simply put, a cozy 'home far from home' kind of ambience. The place you'd want to be on a lazy weekend morning for brunch, late lunch, or an afternoon coffee. I had the truffle scrambled eggs for brunch which was really different compared to any other breakfast places here around the area of South Jakarta. The scrambled eggs is just perfect for comfort food to let itself melt in your mouth with the strong yet humble scent from the truffle oil, sleeping on top of the fluffy croissant. I chose lamb sausage over the chicken and beef (just a personal preference) and it was just to die for. Not a salad eater, but damn was my plate squeaky clean. Fresh produce of salad lured in by the English-style tomato had me going for the full clean plate. Kemang is known for its rustic character for expats to roam around and a quick escape from the metropolitan side of Jakarta. Madera has awarded itself a trophy for the epitome of justifying Kemang's true character. Bravo, Madera!

Yes it's warm, yes it's cozy, but the food is really not good... The waiting staff gets panicky and flustered when there are three or four tables occupied, the kitchen despatches barely plated stuff, even when you order easy kind of breakfast-brunch egg dishes so don't even try the eggs Benedict...

very enjoyable early dinner served in a rustic yet full of flavour and soul to the meal. Definitely coming back for the steak n' eggs. Bravo!

Kemang has always given me that spark of Balinese charm in ways I can't even describe - be it the little boutiques, low-rise surroundings, or the overflowing expat inhabitants like me who, for some unconventional reason, choose to walk from that illegally profiting-pirated DVD shop in Plaza Kemang (or as you'd say, "Spiderman") to this one homy "Bloody Mary Sunday" home kitchen. I'd definitely beg to differ with few of the unfavourable experiences shared as mine was definitely one I look forward to having in the near future. Very near indeed I hope. Upon entering, I found myself tongue-in-cheek as I thought the stationing of the lovely and heartwarming "Bayu" and his partner-in-crime (who's name I didn't quite get) makes the costumers feel as audiences for a sitcom, as the two take the center stage of Madera's welcoming hospitality - kind of like "food for the soul" if you will. He doesn't seem as comfortable conversing in english, but his effort does light you up. Speaking of soul - this place damn well know a thing or two about soul food. For a Motown brother like myself, it's how Aaron Neville would say, "Tell It Like It Is". Cause frankly - it is how it is. You want your breakfast like a king? They give you their signature truffle-scented scrambled egg. You want your steak and mashed? They'll give you your sloppiest most juicy steak with your smooth, thick, soft-as-a-pillow glob of mashed potatoes. You wanna add even some more soul to your meal? Ask for the Steak N' Eggs. All of which was "plate-lickingly" tasty, delicious, and to say the least - soulful. I would also suggest the freshly rejuvenating ginger-lemon with ice as beverage. Quite sure it wouldn't do much in terms of compensating the fat from all the load of goodness I had, but I'd like to think that sense of acidity in the lemon does a little of his job. No judgements there please. All in all I would say the only setback would be the parking, as I had to watch by the hour of how much I had to pay for leaving my car in Hero Kemang. But for the rest, I believe that Madera seeks for critiques and comments. Why? Cause in the end, they long for the day when the seemingly snobbish, or the "wise-guys" (as De Niro would say) of the wannabe critics of Jakarta's developing dining scene would one day, eventually; take a deep breath and throw their laptops or notepads, lay back in Madera's three to four-seater table outdoor with a cup of coffee around 3pm, preferably with the company of a few friends and some kretek, contemplate on having one of their signature meal, looks at menu, get their steak, followed by the aglio olio pasta, then the truffled-cream mushroom pasta, that ginger-lemon ice drink or what have you, have another smoke, and before they know it, a happy tummy and a guaranteed afternoon well spent, and timidly thinking to self, "What in the godforsaken hell have I been saying about this place?"

I LOVEEEEEEE this place... the Egg Benedict is super super super tasty.. i even ordered one more after the first bite.  and my friend who ordered Crepe Complete also loved what he ate. for desert, their pancake had made my day as sweet as i tasted their pancake with ice cream.. by the way, i love what they've done with the design, it's warm, cozy and comfy... the waiters are also friendly to all of us.. would definitelly come back again..

It's a perfect brunch place and the back side of the restaurant is pretty comfortable. Ate there for a brunch with some girlfriends and it was great. We ordered eggs benedict, crepe complete and the salmon salad. The egg dishes are superb, I think they're very delicate and full of flavours. Meanwhile my other friend who ordered the salmon salad thinks that the dressing on the salad is overpowering everything on the plate. But it was a pretty great experience!

Went here for V-day Brunch due to the rave review. The place is irrefutably cute. So warm with the pastel color and comfy couch, but not so buoyant when it came to the lighting. They also have limited seats (up to 30 seats max, cmiiw) so I had reserved my seats first before I went there. So, they are branding themselves as a brunch cafe and they quite hit the right note with all the matching menu and decor. Curious about the Eggs Benedict and since my friend have informed me that GI's Benedict still has a long waiting list, I ordered the Eggs Benedict instead of my usual likeness on English breakfast with scrambled egg or omelette. When I pop the eggs... I didn't like it. It smells quite fishy and I'm a notorious hater (yes, I can't shake it off) of uncooked eggs (except when it's so delicious like the eggs in Ikkudo Ichi). The biscuit was great, the spinach and salmon was marvelous, yet it all ruined by the eggs. I have to ask chili sauce and sprinkled much pepper so I can bare to eat them all. Meanwhile, my gf ordered the salmon spaghetti and she said it was kinda bland.Overall, I know that this review may be subjective and my dis-likeness is most likely targeted to the Eggs Benedict, instead of the Madera itself. Considering its pleasant ambiance, I will be back again for their 'cooked' eggs menu like Madera's Big Breakfast and I hope it will dilute this review since they have such a cute place, nice service, and reasonable prices.

Certainly the best place to find comfort, hidden behind the overly crowded streets of Kemang. For coffee drinkers, order the piccolo latte as you browse their food selection. Madera's Big Breakfast is always the best option for first-timers, it sort of describes the general quality of the menu. Hearty, comfortable, with a hint of truffle oil goodness. For those who wants a fresh kick during or after your meal, a glass of cold ginger lemon honey drink should do it well (a hot one is also available, a must-try for the Hangovers...). Perfect for weekend slow-starters as you would be soaked in their homey atmosphere for the whole day anyway..

I literally come here every week! Guess i am in love with the ambiance and the food of course! I always order the steak & frites and also the creamy spinach. Not many places in Jakarta can cook a good creamy spinach, this one i must say is utterly good!!!
