I read about this place in Google and website. I tried the Rasam Vada first and it was absolutely perfect ..jus like how it tastes back in India. I was impressed, so decided to move to Idly and poori. Idly was a a bit uncooked but otherwise was good. Sambar was OK, but the chutneys both coconut and onion made up for it. Poori and potato masala was the ultimate. The masala was abolsutely perfect and Poori was too.

we two persons were in Jakarta, for 3 days from 18/11 to 20/11/2015. we are strictly vegetarians from Hyderabad, South India. I searched for a veg restaurant in website-thanks to website. we ate comfortably, twice daily, veg biriyani, rotis and curries, butter milk (salted or sweet lassi- a yogurt drink). staff of this v mad resto ar very good. served well. we met some more Indians, who enjoyed this food.

Penasaran banget dengan rating resto ini yang tinggi di situs web, akhirnya saya datang juga ke VMAD ini. Baru sekali nyobain Vegetarian resto yang menunya sebagian besar makanan India. Waktu saya datang ada beberapa keluarga India yang makan di sini.... pertanda bagus banget nih berarti rasa makanannya Indianya autentik :)Saya pesan :*Biryani Feast 79k – Biryani rice yang dilengkapi dengan phulka (semacam flat bread which is very soft, puffed up and oil free), pappadam (kerupuk India) yang crispy, Punjabi chicken peas gravy, potato peas gravy, dan home made raitha & pickles..... so yummy... suka banget, recommended. Tapi presentationnya nga seperti di menu atau foto2 lain yang memakai tray dari kayu. Tapi memang kalau beberapa makanan India yang pernah saya coba di sini dan di luar negeri biasanya juga pakai tray alumunium sih, no big issue. Penasaran saja karena kalau pakai tray kayu terlihat lebih cantik untuk di foto.*Roti canne curry 59k – soft layered bread khas India ini enaaak banget... dilengkapi dengan vegetarian chicken curry. Sauce currynya agak pedas, tapi bumbunya mantab banget.... pengen banget makan yang bukan versi vegetariannya aka pake daging asli :D  Saya nambah lagi 1 porsi roti canne polos, sangking sukanya. Recommended.Waktu saya datang, tidak ada issue mengenai poor service, pegawainya helpful dan ramah2. Cuma ada satu saja nih... saya kan pesan teh... gelasnya masih ada bekas lipstik orang looh... jadi langsung minta ganti gelas yang baru. Next time saya pasti akan datang lagi ke VMAD yang di Sunter.

My 3rd visit to this Indian restaurant (though right now they named it as regular vegetarian restaurant with additional local and chinese and american menu) and my 1st review in website.1st and 2nd visit were great, had a very pleasant service and good food as always. But on 3rd visit, which was happened a few minutes ago, I just had a little discrimination by a waiter there. I was asked whether I am sure to order these menus ( ordered Bell Phoori, a kind of Indian roll and Ice Tea Tarik) and also about the regular prices of these menus. Of course I am aware and sure about these menus I ordered, I am not a fool. But those questions that he asked, was so discriminative. Seems like that I can't afford to pay or my tastebud is bad. I went to these restaurants twice, and i already loved any indian food, i ordered and elate it everywhere. It was just so disappointed. Though the foods are amazing, but I really cannot tolerate those kind services.

That was incredible indian cuisine experience whoaaaa love it.. And i ordered dosai feast yummy yummy! Nice servant and clean restaurant ... I will come again to try another menu ! Yumm!

Resto ini dulunya adalah franchise dari Komala Singapore, yang menurut saya merupakan resto vegetarian terlezat sedunia. Tapi ketika masih franchise pun rasa di Jakarta tidak pernah selezat yang di Singapore. Sekarang mereka " pecah kongsi " dan merubah nama dan juga konsep dengan menyajikan menu menu Chinese and Barat. Untuk menu India, rasa mereka lumayan dan cukup autentik dan bisa dibilang terbaik di Jakarta. Saya bilang autentik karena porsi rempah mereka tidak dikurangi seperti resto India peranakan lainnya di Jakarta. Masala Dosa, Briyani dan Chola Battura adalah menu yang boĺeh dicoba, dan untuk dessert Matka Kulfi dan Falooda wajib dicoba. Jangan lewatkan Masala Chai, teh susu dengan kapulaga dan rempah lain. Harga ya pasti on the higher side. Service cukup.

I am definitely in love with Indian foods! This restaurant serves mostly Indian foods but don't worry, if the spice is too strong for your tongue you'll still have another option of Italian and Chinese foods.My friend and I ordered Onion Uttapam, it's a savoury pancake with lots of onion contained inside the dough and served with two sauces (radish and tomato, I would guess) and a kind of beef goulash. We also had Yum Raj Kachori and Pani Poori Shots. The waiter was telling us how strong the flavour and might not suitable with Indonesian tongue but apparently those fitted perfectly with mine! So both of them have the same spotlight: a kind of crispy-thin-puffy-bread. Yum Raj Kachori's bread is filled with meat, potato, peanut; served with yoghurt sauce mixed with mint and chili powder. Pani Poori Shots is simpler and smaller, contained with potato and served with a tangy liquid. One spoon of those make your tongue twisting with salty-tangy-sour-sweet-spicy flavour. Overall I like a delicious, uncommon foods so I'll definitely will come again to taste another foods!

Since I am currently on diet, so me and my friend decided to stop by this vegetarian restaurant on our way home. This restaurant was quite crowded and unexpectedly had a variety of menu starting from samosa, briyani rice, kebuli rice, sandwhich, french fries and pasta. Most menu are vegetables added with some indian spices and chicken. My friend ordered #SzechuanSizzler and I ordered #RotiCaneCurry - the sizzler had a long rice(idk its name) in it topped with sauteed chicken and spices. So yummy and a little bit hot! The curry on my dish was spot on, probably one of the best curry I tasted so far in Jakarta. If only I had finished diet, I would definitely tried other menu-the briyani rice!! Other aspects, the restaurant was neat and the service was quick! Really recommended for those who want to change a pace and tried something different.

I've been to this restaurant myriad times since it was named Komala, and my husband and I always love the foods as I'm a vegan myself and my hubby is Indian nationality. The only thing disappointing about this restaurant is the service!! Really poor, the waiters/waitresses are slow to serve, the cashier is even slower and could make us queue for quite a while before we are able to pay! So upsetting when we are in a rush and we have to wait for those waiters/waitresses to approach our table and offer the menu.I once screamed at one of them who was standing not far from us but pretended not to hear nor seeing us waving our hands in the air, and it was not even during lunch time, but late afternoon when the guests were only us and 1 grandpa in the corner! Funny that my clients - that I've recommended this restaurant to- were also felt the same! I thought it was only me feeling the service is slow. So please train your staffs to be alert with customers, no matter how good the food is, if service is bad, we will not come back and will stop recommending it to our clients and friends. Thanks.

They did took me back to India. Tried their roti and biryani feast and all of them threw me back to Mumbai. It tasted like the ones my Indian friends cooked me, and surely using fresh ingredients. Too bad their kulfis didn't have malai kulfi available, I dare to say that's the best Indian dessert ever. Their Mango lassi was nice, not the best but still satisfactory. I encountered a lot of Indians dined here during lunch time, a prove of their unquestionable veg trademark.
